Style-Cat's Mission Improvable 2
TEETH

UPDATE... 18/062012

So..... I have had my
second appointment, and thus I have my shiney new tooth.

Yes it may have cost me £120 but what do you reckon, worth the cost to save the smile....?

Well, I think so.....

TEETH

Okay so my teeth ain't great. I don't have pearly whites, even as a kid they were not that iconic gleaming white that shines from every Colgate, Aquafresh and Oral B advert. Strong, mind you...at least they were then.
They never have been my favorite part of me,  big teeth that grew wonky at the front with not enough space for the secondary canines to come down into line, I endured two years of train track braces on the top teeth as an adolescent to straighten them out...and a later mis-spent youth deteriorated their strength and led to many a filing. Having always done the NHS thang with my old  dentist from childhood as he cared enough to do a darn fine job, I didnt realise how lucky I had been until he retired. Taking up with my local dentist (you would think that being in Wanstead even NHS would be quality...oooooooh no that was a foolish error!) I was distinctly unsatisfied with my first visit. The second visit left me feeling none too-plussed with  the work done. The third time I changed dentist within the surgery it was that bad. Amazingly, the new dentist did an even worse job.

Now I don't believe in wasting money, but when it comes to front teeth you cant f*ck about. So I bit the bullet (excuse the pun) and paid to go private. Well, it was my very front knasher at stake after all....
Ironically it was at the same surgery that provides the NHS service,
but wow what a difference in care and attention to detail.

Now it may have cost £120 instead of about £30....but you cannot see the work, its a perfect job done. Not only that, the injections were less painful as more skillfully executed by an experienced and fortitudinous dentist not desperate to turn you out to get the next NHS patient in the chair.
Its cheaper doing Private white filings than having veneers by a long shot. At approximately £120 for large filings, the whole experience is so different it really is worth spending the extra if its a tooth that's gonna show when you smile. I used to have to be knocked out by local anaesthetic for any major filings or more extensive dentistry but I can honestly say that going private I barely felt the injection!
The Private dentist has given me a proper consultation, and formulated a care plan to redeem my knashers to, so much as is possible, their former glory pre the teen-angst-bulimia-and-raving-years.
So with an x-ray completed to ascertain full condition of teeth and gum, the next appointment booked for Monday coming and a £20 tube of 'special' toothpaste not readily available in pharmacies in hand, I leave with a darn fine temporary filing in place......

...the one my finger is pointing to....that is better than the NHS job done on the 'real' filing (which came out hence why this one needs redoing now!)
